Philipp’s Milan dress code: what to wear for dinner and the Club

For the Restaurant, elegant smart casual means aiming for a considered, polished outfit without necessarily treating dinner as a formal occasion. For the Club, smart elegant calls for a dressier approach. The distinction is about the overall style of your outfit, not an extra list of compulsory garments.

Start with the setting you intend to visit and consider how the pieces work together. If an item feels somewhere between casual and elegant, ask the staff before your visit rather than relying on your own interpretation. This is particularly useful when planning an outfit for both spaces.

Trousers with a shirt and, if you wish, a blazer can be a useful starting point. A dress or an elegant suit can also work as an outfit idea. These are suggestions to help you choose a look that suits the setting, rather than a prescribed uniform or a requirement to wear particular pieces.

Give footwear the same attention: choose shoes that suit your outfit and avoid the excluded categories. A tuxedo, tie and heels are not listed as requirements. If you are unsure about a particular shoe, describe it to the staff. A brand name or a higher price does not replace checking the dress code.

The FAQs explicitly list the following categories as not permitted. Check them before putting the finishing touches to your outfit, especially if you are coming straight from another activity:

If you would like to have dinner and then continue to the Club, choose an outfit consistent with smart elegant before you leave home. Confirm Club access and its conditions separately: a Restaurant reservation should not be taken as confirmation of access to both spaces.

Management reserves the right to select guests at the entrance, and a reservation does not override the dress code. Club guests must be at least 21 and have a valid ID. Keep these entry requirements separate from outfit planning when arranging the evening with friends or other guests.
